I explored nostalgia and childhood memories, drawing from traditional African hairstyles women and girls were popularly known to wear called puff-puff during the early stages of hair growth. The further provocation for this series is the character Simbi from the children's literature I grew up reading, "Ali and Simbi." However, due to recent natural hair trends, similar styles have begun to resurface and become more fashionable.
